I warmly greet all members of our Community, all Ethiopian Friends and all readers of this page.
I recently arrived in Addis Ababa with determination and enthusiasm to continue to the work of my predecessors and colleagues, in order to contribute to the deepening of relations between Portugal and Ethiopia, which are based on five centuries of history and remain in an atmosphere of great cordiality.
Portugal is a leading country, member of the European Union, with high rates of economic and human development.
For those interested in knowing more about Portugal, we invite you to visit, in addition to this page, also www.visitportugal.com.
I assure you that I will spare no effort to encourage a greater interest for Portugal, which offers several investment opportunities and commercial exchanges.
The page of the Portuguese Agency for Investment and Commerce www.portugalglobal.pt/en will be very useful to get to know more about such opportunities. Support for the activity of Portuguese companies, interested in the Ethiopian market, will also remain a priority for our operations.
Addis Ababa hosts the headquarters of several international organizations, with emphasis on the African Union and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa.
I will accompany with interest the activity that develops in this center of multilateral politics in Africa. The African Union, to which we maintain a Representation, deserves a special attention, as a privileged platform for monitoring the African integration process for cooperation.
I should also emphasize that the promotion of Portuguese culture and language will continue to be a priority in our activities.
The Portuguese Language Center, supported by the Instituto Camões (https://www.instituto-camoes.pt/en/), pursues this objective, in collaboration with the University of Addis Ababa and the African Union, an organization that has Portuguese as an official language.
I invite you to check this page regularly and contact us whenever you want to leave suggestions that you deem opportune.
