On the 9th of July 2011 Portugal recognized the Republic of South Sudan.
Antonio Luís Peixoto Cotrim was the first Ambassador to present credentials as non resident in South Sudan as Ambassador resident in Addis Ababa, on the 23rd of January of 2015.
